The Witcher 2: 15 Reasons It's A Hidden Masterpiece You've Ignored

2. Geralt Of Rivia

Protagonist Geralt of Rivia is quite the character. Admittedly, when you first start to play the game he appears somewhat off-putting due to his very grizzled and monotone voice. In fact, you might mistake it for lazy voice acting. However, given enough time, you start to see the type of character Geralt is supposed to be, and it all makes sense. Geralt is a world weary, Clint Eastwood type character with a mysterious past that he desperately wants to remember. He doesn€™t talk much, yet carries himself with confidence, clearly not having much patience for the people that surround him, often rolling his eyes or inserting a quick jip here and there. He wants to live a simple life with simple goals, yet the plot forces him to get involved with agendas he wants nothing to do with. While this personality type is set in stone, how it evolves as the story progresses and where his priorities lie is up to you. Does he fight for himself? For love? For the oppressed? Through this process, you start to learn more about him, and he becomes a pretty interesting character. He is also just plain awesome; like a fantasy version of a lone gunslinger. So while he may not initially strike you as the most interesting character, you€™ll find Geralt has a lot more going on than expected. He's a phenomenal protagonist.
