World Of Warcraft: 5 Facts That Will Blow Your Mind

5. Someone Bought An Account for Over $9,000... Then Got Banned

In 2007, a record was set for World of Warcraft after an account was sold for 7,000 euros, the equivalent at the time to over $9,000 USD. In exchange for the money, the buyer received a level 70 Night Elf Rogue from an owner named 'Zeuzo'. The reason for the high asking price was down to the weapons owned by Zeozo: a pair of Warglaives of Azzinoth. These top level items were very powerful, and extremely rare. The only method by which to gain the Warglaives (other than buying an account) was by defeating Illidan Stormrage, the final boss of the first expansion. It's financially questionable for anyone to drop so much money on what is, in the end, just a game. However, at the time of the transaction Zeuzo was the best geared rogue in the game, making it a highly desirable catch in the MMO. After the trade had taken place, the powerful character was moved to a different server, under ownership of a player named Shaks. Unfortunately for Shaks, the story didn't end there. Selling in-game items and accounts for real-world money directly contradicts the terms and conditions laid out by Blizzard, something that all players must agree to upon creating an account. Perhaps due to all the publicity surrounding the deal, Shaks' account was permanently banned shortly after. The moral of the story? Disregard all real-life obligations and spend 18 hours a day playing, you filthy casual. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0QJ3XY4cwU
