9. Undertaker Vs Bret Hart Summerslam 97
The Undertaker had been the WWF Champion since WrestleMania 13 but few had come close to defeating the Deadman. Bret Hart was the top heel at the time following his match with Stone Cold at the same event. When Shawn Michaels the enemy of Hart was appointed as the special guest referee, many wondered if HBK could truly be impartial. The match was back-and-forth with both wrestlers enjoying patches of dominance until the Undertaker started to control the tempo towards the end. Bret had locked in the Sharpshooter but the champion had countered the move. The challenger - infuriated by his lack of success - went to get a chair. As Hart went to attack Undertaker, Michaels caught the chair and warned Bret. The Canadian spat at HBK. Annoyed he tried to return the gesture by hitting Hart with the chair, but he missed and hit the Deadman, costing him his WWF Title. Hart was now the champion but the match had much larger ramifications. It began a feud between HBK and Taker that introduced us to the Hell in a Cell match, DX and Kane.
