WWE '13: 10 Things THQ Needs To Fix

3. Wait 2 Years Before Releasing The Next One

To avoid the creative stagnation that plagues a lot of annual video game series, it might make sense for THQ to take a year off after WWE '14 and take a long, hard look at how they can innovate the wrestling sim. Of course, they're not going to do that because it means they'll make less money - and they risk reducing brand awareness - but in a perfect world, it could be just the thing needed to rejuvenate the series. Though, to their credit, THQ do more than most sport game developers to keep changing things up - owing to the more dynamic nature of wrestling when compared to the likes of football, baseball and so on - so many of these games do end up feeling arbitrary, even if the last two games admittedly have felt like a breath of fresh air. Still, there will be a point when things will feel like business as usual again - as they have in so many previous games - and that's certainly the point at which it would be best to take a break. If there isn't a tangible reason for releasing another game beyond mere obligation, then why not wait, and release a stream of DLC for the previous game in the meantime; new wrestlers and so on? This isn't one we'll hold our breath for, though.
