WWE 13 Hands On Review: 10 Reasons Why It's Awesome

2. Authentic Commentary

You€™ll probably know by now that Hall of Famer Jim Ross is returning as the voice of the Attitude era (as he did so epically in RAW€™s 1000th episode). But my excitement toward WWE 13's colour commentary only just begins there. In previous THQ WWE titles, the WWE commentators were brought in to record their repartee in a stuffy sound booth. Miles from the crowds that impassion them and the performances that fuel their improvisation, they recorded their commentary over footage of the game being played. It€™s always done the job to a degree, but for WWE 13, Yuke€™s have decided to make a serious change. With that goal in mind, the commentary in WWE 13 has been lifted directly from live broadcasts during both the Attitude era and the Modern era, meaning that when you hear J.R screaming €œGOOD GOD, THEY€™VE KILLED HIM!€, he€™ll really, really mean it. Sadly, this new colour commentary overhaul had not yet been integrated into the build I played, but just hearing it described during the presentation was enough to pique my excitement. WWE 13 wants to make you forget that you€™re playing a game and allow you to imagine you€™re actually taking part in a real WWE broadcast. By god, it looks as though we€™re in for a Slobberknocker!
