WrestleMania IV was notable for the fourteen-man tournament that took place to determine the winner of the vacant WWF Championship (due to Andre the Giant trying to sell it to Ted DiBiase), culminating in the final bout between Randy Savage and DiBiase. Savage was exhausted from his prior fight with One Man Gang, whereas DiBiase had been given vital time to rest due to receiving a bye to the final (after Andre and Hogan fought to a double-disqualification), but with some help from Hulk Hogan (to stop Andre from interfering), Savage managed to capture the title.
