WWE 2K16: 15 Legends Who Could Be The Flagship Star
3. Stone Cold
June 2016 sees the 20th anniversary of Stone Cold Steve Austin breakthrough moment in the WWF: the debut of one of the most over finishing moves in wrestling history, the Stunner; his victory over Jake The Snake Roberts in the final of the King Of The Ring; and the improvised 3:16 promo that launched a million t-shirts. With the genius of the Mr. McMahon character as the top heel for Austin to play off, and a supporting cast of main event calibre wrestlers to orbit the pair of them that included the Undertaker, the Rock, Mick Mankind Foley and Triple H (any one of whom would have been enough to build an entire promotion around) Stone Cold became the biggest star that the WWE has ever seen, the top draw in a significant boom period for the company, even surpassing Hulk Hogans heyday. To this day, the more and more infrequent guest appearances that Austin makes to the WWE blow the roof off the building. As soon as they hear the sound of breaking glass the crowd becomes utterly unglued. And just as with Shawn Michaels, the WWE have never stopped trying to persuade their biggest ever star to come back for a lucrative wrestling payoff at Wrestlemania. For a while, it looked as though the lure of a CM Punk/Austin feud would do it, but thats off the table now and with every passing year, the odds that an aging Austin will risk his health for one last whiff of the big time get longer and longer and longer. So just as with The Heartbreak Kid why not make Stone Cold an offer hed have to be insane to turn down? Twenty years after he hit the big time, make Austin the star of WWE 2K16, leading to a guest appearance or three and a ready made Wrestlemania main event feud with Brock Lesnar? John Cena? The Authority themselves?
