WWE 2K16: 15 Legends Who Could Be The Flagship Star
12. Hulk Hogan
Even a few years ago, the Hulksters inclusion as the flagship star of a game like WWE 2K16 would have been an obvious choice. The MVP of WWF in the 1980s and early 1990s, Hulk Hogan is one of the few household name stars of the industry. However, Hogans four-year stint with TNA from 2009 to 2013 took a lot of the shine off. No matter how TNA and their fans try to dress it up, TNA isnt competition for the WWE: theres a significant drop off between the top promotion in the USA and the next name on the list. Hogans time as an elderly attraction in TNA diminished his value as an attraction elsewhere, especially back in the WWE, and it doesnt help that Hogan isnt physically able to legitimately wrestle any longer, and so hasnt been booked as part of a significant storyline since returning to the WWE. Instead, hes been trotted out like an octogenarian ex-President whenever the powers that be need something sold to the people. In 2015, Hogans star has fallen a little way but hes still Hulk Hogan. His appearance with the NWO at Wrestlemania Play went down well, for what it was and, unusually, he didnt make it all about him. There are two, maybe three god iterations of Hogan from WWF/WCW/WWE that would make quality exclusive downloadable content: four, if you include Mr. America (which every right thinking wrestling fan should). Its coming up to the fortieth anniversary of Terry Bollea deciding to ditch the bass guitar for the squared circle. Could it be time for the WWE to milk the last few dollars out of Hulkamania?
