WWE 2K17: 10 Things That Must Be Brought Back

10. Emphasis On In-Game Unlockables Over DLC

Since the halcyon days of WWF No Mercy, video gaming has changed as a market. Nowadays, developers are all about trying to squeeze as much profit from titles as possible, which is exactly why the idea of Downloadable Content (or DLC) has become so popular. This doesn't sit well with many older fans, who sit there wondering why they have to pay extra to use characters that really should have been on the disc upon purchase. Nonetheless, that's just the way things are now, but sometimes developers ask too much of players. For example, expecting people to fork over hard cash for incremental extras is just not cool, and it's something that needs to be reigned back in. Referring back to No Mercy on the N64, the infamous Smackdown Mall was perfection personified. In essence, gamers were rewarded with WWF dollars for playing the game. This allowed people to browse a catalogue of unlockables, which felt exciting. Compare that to now, when folks must pay extra for some things withheld by those making the game, and it's slightly easier to imagine why people are yearning for the way things used to be. The idea of downloadable custom creations softens the blow, but it'd be nice to see more of a reward scheme for playing different match types.
