WWE 2K17 Early Reviews: 10 Things We Learned

6. Graphical Inconsistencies

Despite positive tweaks on the UI front, WWE 2K17 is a graphically inconsistent game, and as mentioned previously, some of the character models just aren’t up to scratch. Wrestlers like John Cena and Triple H are recreated with an incredible level of precision and look remarkably close to their real-life counterparts. Others? Not so much.

The Usos and Revival suffer from bland, blurry character models that look nothing like they should, while Becky Lynch and Alexa Bliss would be barely recognisable if not for their attire. The women are particularly problematic in fact. In 2K17, long hair looks like a sodden mop, and the textures are basic at best.

The graphical inconsistencies extend far beyond the character models, though. The arena’s lighting and smoke effects look much improved from 2K17, but the pyro and fire still lag behind. Such shoddy effects have been a regular problem in WWE game for years, and 2K17 does nothing to improve them.

There are countless other examples spread throughout the game, and while these changes are purely cosmetic, they do see 2K17 lose a couple of points on the presentation side.
