WWE 2K18: 10 Biggest Innovations We Need To See
4. Classic Commentary For Classic Matches
Although true that 2K should focus on the current product way more than the past few games have, that doesn't mean they can't pay tribute to the past too. After all, being able to recreate matches like Sting vs. Ric Flair from the Great American Bash 1990 or Mankind vs. The Undertaker from King Of The ring 1998 is attractive.
What's not attractive is hearing the dulcet tones of Michael Cole narrate these matches. That's not criticism of Cole, he just shouldn't be commentating these historic matches. He wasn't there when they happened, so it feels jarring to hear him excitedly harp on about 'vintage Mick Foley' when Mankind has just taken that bump through the Cell.
Hearing time-sensitive commentary would be fantastic. It'd be a challenge, but 2K could easily lift lines from the WWE archives and weave them together depending on what's happening in the match. Failing that, get Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, Jerry Lawler and others in to record some lines solely for these performers, so that choosing them offers something exclusive.
