WWE 2K18: 10 Ways To Make It The Perfect Game

8. General Manager Mode

General Manager Mode has been missing from WWE games since SmackDown vs. Raw 2009, and its comeback is well overdue. While Universe Mode lets players book, simulate, and play their own shows, it’s a shallow husk compared to the old GM Mode, which allowed a level of simulation and customisation that hasn’t been matched since.

Letting fans play the role of a Kurt Angle or Daniel Bryan would bring a fresh experience to the series, and there lots of different ways 2K can take it. From signing wrestlers and booking shows to a story-focused approach with Raw, SmackDown, and perhaps even NXT vying for the GM’s services, the possibilities are almost endless, and would create a level of immersion that has been missing from WWE games since GM Mode was axed.

As anyone who has ever played Extreme Warfare Revenge or Total Extreme Wrestling will attest, few wrestling gaming experiences are more satisfying than watching a brand prosper under your leadership. We’re not suggesting that 2K need to hit a Football Manager-esque level of depth, but in terms of refreshing the franchise and providing a new gameplay experience, there’s no bigger step they could take than letting us be the booker again.
