WWE 2K18: 7 Improvements You Need To Know
4. Old-School 8-Bit Goodness
Oh, 2K, you have us with this one. It may be little more than a screen filter, but seeing Seth Rollins battle AJ Styles in glorious 8-bit graphics gives us curmudgeonly old farts who wax lyrical about the 'good old days' of gaming something a bit special. Also, we want to see what 'Bad VHS' looks like.
Younger gamers will get a giggle out of this. Imagine having a brand spanking new WWE game on PS4 and Xbox One, complete with flashy new lighting mechanics and world-class graphics, only to tone things down so they look worse. Those from the 8-bit era won't care about those whippersnappers though, because this is a love letter from 2K to those longing for the past.
If nothing else, it's a cool visual effect that you'll fiddle around with once or twice. We can totally see ourselves leaving that 8-bit filter on however, especially when using older characters included in the game like The Ultimate Warrior, or old arenas from the 1980's.
