WWE 2K18: 7 New Gameplay Tweaks You Need To Know
4. High Risk Moves Are Less Erratic
That focus on much tighter overall player control extends to high risk moves coming from the top turnbuckle. In 2K18, these moves look less erratic than before, certainly compared to 2K17; in that game, characters would often leap without prompt from the top rope just because the player had taken them there. The choice of when to jump wasn't in your hands.
The new system is triggered by holding the R1/RB button when your superstar makes it to the top. Unlike before, they won't jump straight away. This tweak removes some of the anger felt by players when the CPU inevitably reversed jumping attacks and left the attacker prone on the canvas.
In effect, it makes high risk moves less risky. If that sounds weird, consider 2K17's approach of making them reckless more than a risk/reward toss up. This is handy for anyone who picks a top rope finisher, because it means they won't accidentally trigger another move and end up on the back foot.
