WWE 2K18: 7 New Gameplay Tweaks You Need To Know
2. Royal Rumble Rest Periods
2K17's Royal Rumble was a vast improvement over the sprint style of the match type a generation ago. 2K18 ups the level of simulation in the Rumble by harnessing new rest period animations which cycle different wrestlers out of the action for a short time. This is something the mode needed years ago.
The same goes for other multi-wrestler matches like Triple Threat and Fatal-4-Way. Pinning one opponent in those matches felt like a lottery in previous games, but it's much more straightforward now injured wrestlers seek some recuperation time outside the ring. For the Rumble, they naturally don't leave the ring, but do cradle the ropes.
This aids the overall flow of the match and means those who have been in for a long time aren't penalised for their success. Going from the #1 position to the end remains one of the game's hardest achievements (even on Easy difficulty), so this is more of a change geared towards making the Rumble play longer and look more authentic.
