WWE 2K18: 7 Things You Can Learn From The Game’s First Footage

1. Character Models Don't Look So Waxy

As aforementioned, the ancient hair mechanics and dead-looking eyes don't look great close up, but 2K have absolutely nailed characters with short-hair from afar. A quick side-by-side glance at Randy Orton from 2K17 and the upcoming game proves just how far we've come in such a short space of time.

That waxy sheen many of the wrestlers had last year is gone, replaced by a much more realistic skin tone that reacts to light. This has brought tattoos to life too; take a look at how much Orton's ink looks to be part of his skin rather than sitting on top of it. The fact those ghostly skulls are less transparent is also a plus point.

Some of 2K17's models looked great (for the top stars, at least), but even Randy's excellent one has been totally usurped by 2K18. Instead of looking like a wax work dummy, the model now mimics a real-life photograph of the man. Let's hope that quality can be maintained when the character moves during matches.
