WWE 2K18 Universe Mode: 6 Things You Need To Know
2. Superstar Goals
At its core, professional wrestling is a soap opera framed around simulated combat, driven by an ensemble cast of characters with different traits, quirks and motivations. Capturing these characteristics has always been a problem in WWE games, as the wrestlers aren't usually anything more than re-skinned versions of the same dull personality, with little differentiation from one to another.
2K hope to change this in 2K18, particularly in Universe Mode, where they believe the addition of specific goals will recreate the depth of a fully formed wrestling storylines.
Superstars will actively work towards these accomplishments. They'll be impacted by things like power rankings and relationships with other wrestlers, with contenders chasing gold, and champions out to fend off all comers. Friendly superstars may want to form a tag team together, while dysfunctional duos might seek to split. Simple, basic stuff, but what more do you need from a wrestling game?
2K claim that these goals will have implications for the kind of rivalries and match stipulations a wrestler can access. Furthermore, players will be able to tweak specific superstar goals, giving them a level of control over how those wrestlers are pushed in the game.
