Above all else, the single biggest fear hardcore series fanatics have before 2K19's release is that 2K won't change a thing.

There's a sense of helplessness when one realises that 2K only have a 12-month cycle to turn the game out in and spend more energy getting the roster as bang up-to-date as they can than developing new gameplay features or modes long-time fans can play around with.

These days, the 2K series presses the soft reset button every year without ever coming close to the wish lists fans inevitably draft up each summer. That's hard to stomach, and yet it won't stop people from buying what 2K are selling when that hype train pulls into the station.

Some buy because they genuinely enjoy the games, which is cool. Others, more so series traditionalists who have been there since the old SmackDown days, do so more out of habit or routine, and they repeatedly loop around in circles hoping something significant will change.

Isn't that close to the definition of insanity?
