WWE 2K19: 10 Most Wanted New Features

9. Retro Mode

WWF No Mercy N64
THQ

This one is a bit out there.

Wouldn't it be special to fire up 2K19 and find you can simplify the controls or (get this) use a control scheme from beloved wrestling games of the past? 2K18's controls may be a bit too elaborate or fiddly for some older gamers, and it'd be a nice touch to say, 'here, play using the button layout you remember from games of your youth'.

The only problem here is that 2K clearly want to push their own way of doing things. That's understandable, but it goes against player inclusion. Fans who want to be invested in the series and find themselves put off by the different controls would be delighted to see one button for moves, one for strikes, one for running and another contextual button for entering/exiting the ring, picking up weapons or going to the top rope.

This could be simplified as 'Retro Mode'. It's worth thinking about, if nothing else, because old-school fans playing their first wrestling title in years could be put off by twiddly pin mechanics or those cursed submission mini-games.
