WWE 2K19: 10 Rumours You Need To Know
8. Microtransactions?
Popular YouTube gaming channel SmackTalks are behind this rumour, and it's one they claim comes from official sources. They're on the right tracks too; 2K CEO Strauss Zelnick told investors last November that microtransactions would play a major role in all the studio's games going forward.
To SmackTalks, that means the loot crates from 2K18 will probably be turned into money-making opportunities for the company in 2K19.
Don't worry too much. It's unlikely that 2K's in-game VC currency will only be available to those opening their wallets. Earning points through winning matches, gaining high star ratings and playing through all the different modes is still likely to be the best way to unlock those crates.
Besides, putting the option in there for people to buy them with real cash is hardly different to 2K's current "Accelerator" DLC pack model. For a one-off price, that allows players access to almost everything in the game they'd otherwise have to spend time unlocking.
