WWE 2K20: 10 Reasons To Be Worried
2. There's Still No "Proper" Story Mode
Between the female Showcase, Universe, the new story-driven Roman Reigns Tower and the bite-sized 2K Originals, WWE 2K20 will have a wealth of storytelling capabilities to help motor things along. That's before one dives into the fully-fleshed MyCareer suite to see what's on offer there.
All this content won't satisfy those who recall the heady heights of "proper" WWE-driven narratives in the old Story and Career Modes though.
2K20 won't offer players the opportunity to pick one wrestler they love and play out a year or two of storylines, feuds, title wins and cut scenes. Universe is a frail substitute for experiences seen in games like SmackDown: Here Comes The Pain and SmackDown vs. Raw 2007. It's maddening to keep bringing this up annually without any sign that 2K are listening.
It's really not a difficult concept to grasp. Loads of series fans would love to relive the best storylines from the previous 12 months in-game and take their fave underdog to main event success. That vicarious joy is lost when there's no full Story Mode that lets one play as a real WWE star.
