WWE 2K20: 10 Reasons To Be Worried

6. 2K Are Going The Silly Route

Several reviews for 2K19 pointed out that the revamped MyCareer story was, to quote the great Jim Ross, "goofier than a pet 'coon". It was designed that way, in fairness, and 2K had to do something after years of dreadful grinding and running back-and-forth from the parking lot to the curtain for matches.

In 2K20, they're content to take silliness to the next level.

The first stills from this year's MyCareer show both a male and female character interacting with retro witch doctor Papa Shango. It's all very early-90s Saturday morning TV (think Goosebumps or Are You Afraid Of The Dark?), and it's likely to be random, unapologetically zany and rife with comedy.

Other features, like the new 2K Originals, are steeped in the same adventurous absurdity too. Whilst it would be hyper-critical to bash 2K for trying a new direction, it is fair to point out that this ridiculousness exists to mask the game's glaring flaws elsewhere. Also, how far do they go before WWE games lose any and all edge?
