WWE 2K20 Review: 3 Ups & 9 Downs

7. MyCareer Is An Hilarious Trainwreck

MyCareer mode this year is absolutely insane.

Though it's clear that some effort has been put into making the mode entertainingly ridiculous, its intentionally funny moments are overwhelmed by the wealth of hilarious moments which aren't in any way purposeful.

The campaign follows hopeful superstars Red and Tre over a 15-hour slog, where between the atrocious voice acting and hysterically dumb script, you'll probably start to wonder whether it's an exercise in self-aware surrealism.

The tone is all over the place, though: one minute you're hearing about President Dwayne Johnson, and the next you're having a somber chat about your deadbeat parents.

Without spoiling anything, the plot goes in some absolutely demented directions, and the writing isn't nuanced enough to make it work.

Gameplay-wise the cinematics are unskippable and there's not even a pause button, while infuriatingly long loading screens between every single cutscene only make it feel like more of a chore.

If you tapped out before the end, nobody would blame you.
