WWE 2K21: 10 Improvements It Must Make On 2K20
8. An Arcade Gameplay Choice
WWE All-Stars wasn't perfect by any means, but it was fun. That's a word 2K should start italicising in their own in-house documents when concocting the next game. Video games are supposed to offer escapism, and that's true even when they're based on simulation. Somewhere along the line, 2K has forgotten this.
2K20, like the endless run of sim-based WWE titles before it, doesn't have enough fun factor. The gameplay is boring as all hell; play older games like the aforementioned All-Stars, Here Comes The Pain or even SmackDown 2, then pop in 2K20. The game engine runs through mud by comparison.
Again, those games carried their own flaws, but playing them was a good time.
2K can sort this problem out of the box by offering a slider in the options menu. Those who like the sim-based style can stick to it, whereas those who don't can revert to a more OTT version of the gameplay. Think EA's Madden, and the difference playing on 'Simulation' or 'Arcade' makes there.
