Becky Lynch beamed with pride as she held both the Raw and SmackDown Women's Titles aloft at WrestleMania 35. Brock Lesnar cut a smug figure after blasting through cherished WWE Champ Kofi Kingston on SmackDown's FOX debut. Drew McIntyre looked like he was having the time of his life after winning the 2020 Royal Rumble.

Those sorts of moments should be replicated throughout the 2K series, but they never are.

2K randomly made the choice to abandon recent real-life WWE storylines in favour of fan-made ones in modes like Universe or older ones in Showcase. Those are fine to have at one's fingertips, though it is ever-so-slightly bothersome that 2K's game routinely skims over what fans have been watching on TV all year.

Some sort of 'Year In Review' mode would placate the need to relive the biggest happenings from the previous 12 months. If 2K so wish, this can be by way of a regularly-updated 'On This Day' feature that allows players to download mini-Showcases and play through them when they're available.
