WWE 2K21 Early Wishlist: 10 Things Fans DEMAND

2. Totally Fresh Graphical Style

WWE 2K19 Cel Shading
2K Games

Hair sucks in 2K20, and so do most of the character faces. Doughy-skinned models with vacant, haunted expressions have become a rule of thumb in 2K's series, and some of the graphics are worse than those released a decade before. It's unacceptable, and something has to give next time.

Would anyone complain if 2K21 was a total departure from supposed realism?

This is something 2K experimented with before. The cel-shaded and 8-bit filters they included several years ago were mere playthings, but they did show up the default graphics as sketchy. Cel-shading smoothed out the edges and gave everything a comic book sheen, and 8-bit was a throwback to old-school gaming.

Both were workable, and it's not preposterous to suggest that 2K were gauging fan reaction by including these filtered coats of paint. They admitted themselves that much of 2K20's graphical (ahem) prowess was recycled from old games, so a new direction is needed, and soon.
