WWE 2K22 Review: 4 Ups & 4 Downs
1. DOWN - The Game Already Feels Out Of Date
As we all know the Wrestling industry moves at a mile a minute, with new faces joining and familiar ones jumping ship, and as such, it can be incredibly hard to keep up with the week-to-week product let alone take on the mammoth task of programming a game months in advance.
Therefore don't go into this expecting to see the WWE as it is "Now" as this is very much WWE "Then", and will be a problem "Forever" if "2K doesn't look to adopt a more reactive process. Costumes have changed, current tag teams are non-existent and gimmicks are almost a cycle behind, all of which actively ages a game sporting the moniker of NEXT year.
However, even more, jarring than the greatest tag team of all time The Dirty Dogs battling each other complete with commentary telling us how much Roode and Ziggler hate each other, is the surprising amount of faces on the roster which are propping up AEW at present.
Of the 30+ wrestlers in the game that aren't actually with the company at this point in time, several huge names such as Keith Lee, Murphy, and Kyle O'Reilly are now working for the competition so it's utterly jarring to see them here.
Also let that sink in, over thirty wrestlers are in a game that's just come out that aren't with the company. That's madness.
