5. Here Comes The Pain’s Speed
Mandatory 'Here Comes The Pain' love coming right up.
Sorry in advance to anyone who thinks that game is overrated. Even if you're in that camp, you cannot deny that HCTP was miles better than anything this series has released over the past five years or more. It had superb gameplay that balanced speed and arcade vibes with sim touches that grounded everything.
The control scheme was also flawless, and it will always baffle this fan that 2K meddled with it in favour of even more contextual mind-f*ckery. Doing anything you please during matches is a breeze in older titles like SmackDown: Here Comes The Pain or Shut Your Mouth. The same cannot be said for 2K19, 2K20 or other recent entries.
2K22 would do well to revert back to the balance of before. Pro wrestling games used to be fun, but they're not now. They can be technically impressive at times (2K19) or immersive (2K14), but fun? That's a word 2K seems to have deleted from their vocabulary.
