Some wrestling gamers out there jump in two-footed on the latest releases and pre-order them as soon as they can. Others? Well, others prefer to bide their time and wait to see what the reviews, social media, Reddit and the fanbase at large has to say first. That's understandable, but anybody worried about WWE 2K24 shouldn't be.

They really shouldn't be.

Reviews are already gushing with praise for the new entry into 2K's long-running series, and rightly so. The already-slick gameplay has been further enhanced by some low-key but welcome improvements, and modes like Showcase, MyRise, MyGM and more will keep players busy for the rest of the year.

Is everything on offer here enough to make you trade in that copy of 2K23 for the latest update? That's a good question, because countless gamers remain in love with everything the last blockbuster had to offer. Modern software is expensive too, so it's smart to be picky with your cash - that's perhaps especially true for year-on-year franchises like WWE 2K.

Here's absolutely everything you need to know that'll help you make a firm decision. To buy or not to buy?!

10. Gameplay Is Genuinely Fun

First, an experiment.

Go back and play a few matches from the final couple of entries pre-2K20. When you do, you'll find they’re a surprising slog to fiddle around with by comparison to the dream-like 2K24. This year's game strikes a neat balance between sim elements and faster action. It's a real treat to play.

Characters are super-responsive, contextual controls are easier than ever to master, and 2K has become better at handholding where appropriate (just hit pause to check out handy hints on how to drive some poor sap through that table!). This all combines to make playing matches a joyous experience whether you’re wrestling the AI or a human-controller player.

Don't fret about 2K24 being a boring brawler. It's anything but, and the addition of throwable weapons, multi-wrestler Backstage Brawls, the new back and forth punching mini-game and more mean you're guaranteed some excellent, occasionally-epic matches no matter what your play style is.
