WWE 2K25: 10 Biggest Reveals (So Far)

8. There Are General Gameplay Improvements

The caveat here is that "improvements" will be subjective, but these gameplay tweaks are worth talking about anyway. In 2K25, 2K will bring back chain wrestling for the first time since the dreadful 2K20. Chain grappling makes its re-debut in a series that pulled the nose up starting with 2K22, and it'll be a welcome addition provided sequences don't feel too scripted or degenerate into mindless button presses QTE style.

That's not the most exciting announcement, to be fair. Now, you can also perform leaping attacks off the security barriers around ringside. Sure, that's been possible in some older titles too, but it's nice to have another toy to play around with during matches. Hopefully, you'll be able to run along the barricades like Jeff Hardy in his prime too. That was always a special spot.

Players who like fighting outside the ring and in backstage environments will be pleased to know 2K has added a few new areas for 'Backstage Brawls'. WWE's archive warehouse and the NXT parking lot have been heaped onto the pre-existing range of rooms you can hit powerbombs in, and it's the first one older fans will be most excited about.

That warehouse opens up all sorts of possibilities. Imagine slamming someone into one of The Undertaker’s old caskets, for example. Or, maybe you'd rather use the hood on one of Eddie Guerrero's old lowriders as a landing pad for slams. WWE Vault vids touring the archives have been a blast on YouTube, so it'll be fun to brawl through in-game and see what easter eggs 2K throw in there.

Maybe there will be some WrestleMania signs for everyone to point at, who knows?
