It's been close to 17 years since you've been able to match Beth Phoenix up against The Great Khali. Well, that's unless you make a point of returning to play SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 in 2025. That was the last time devs let gamers put together intergender matches in these WWE games, but that's about to change in 2K25.

The fact that intergender warfare is back on the agenda is being shouted from rooftops already. Apparently, this is something a ton of players badly wanted. Now, thanks to the comeback, they'll be able to mix and match; so, it'll finally be possible to RKO Nia Jax as that cheeky scamp Randy Orton. On the flip side, you can now give Randy the Annihilator as revenge. This is your sandbox.

It remains to be seen just how far 2K will go with this. Presumably, you can enter the men's Royal Rumble as a female star (and vice versa), but it'd be a slight surprise if you were allowed to win gender-specific titles as the opposite sex. Therefore, anyone who harbours dreams of making Damian Priest the brand new Women's Intercontinental Champion may have to play the waiting game on that feature.

Or not. Only time will tell.

Intergender matches do open up avenues to create Mixed Tag-Team Titles and use those in Universe Mode though. 2K prides itself on progressively adding more and more ways for fans to get creative. This is the latest example of that, and it'll be another neat tool for those who adore the whole "fantasy warfare" aspect of these games.
