The submission wheel system will return in WWE 2K25.

Why?

Nobody knows, though trusted WWE games YouTuber Smacktalks has confirmed that both the wheel system and the button-mashing mini-game will be usable in 2K25. Which system will be the game's default isn't known, however.

A divisive system, the submission wheel represents a game of cat and mouse wherein the practitioner must trap the defender's cursor within their own, forcing a submission. One notable change to the system that will extend its quality of life is that both Superstars' names appear on-screen during the submission to represent their colour on the wheel: the offender is in red, while the defender is in blue. This was a particular gripe of the wheel system that made mastering it impossible.

While the wheel's return won't appease all players, it will make for more epic matches. Applying a submission to an opponent with red body damage while using the button-mashing mechanic guaranteed a tap out, but that won't necessarily be the case with the wheel, especially if playing co-op against a submission-inept friend.
