Xbox: 11 Studios Microsoft Might Buy Next

Dontnod Entertainment

A French studio with an impressive penchant for building rich characters and involving storylines. They are best known for their 'interactive adventure' games Tell Me Why, The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit, and genre milestone, the Life is Strange series.

Why Likely:

Firstly, they have second-party roots. Life is Strange 2, while multi-plat, released episodically on Game Pass day one. Then their latest release, Tell Me Why, is published exclusively by Xbox Game Studios.

Secondly, they're a respected indie developer in need of financial footing. They have hinted at larger ambitions outside of their 'interactive' titles, as displayed by both Remember Me and Vampyr.

Both games were filled with incredible ideas and flavourful worlds, but flopped, let down by half-baked mechanics and compromised productions - Microsoft ownership would allow them to finally cook up something appealingly triple-A.

Why Not:

Honestly, there's not a lot of reasons against it.

The dev fits the exact criteria that Microsoft has been following when acquiring recent studios. The only wildcard factor is, with the Bethesda buy out, has the company's purchase pattern changed?
