Xbox One: 10 Big Changes That Would Actually Make It Worth Buying
8. Free Stuff, And Lots Of It For Xbox Live Gold Subscribers
If you pardon the not-quite-pun, Xbox One owners have PSNess envy. Playstation Plus is a service offered to PS3, Vita, and PSP owners that gives subscribers a kings bounty worth of perks; the most appealing of which is free games every month. Theres been over a hundred games offered through the service, including modern Triple A titles like Borderlands 2 and Batman: Arkham City, plus classics like Comix Zone and The Simpsons Arcade game. This service also transferred over to PS4 owners, offering the indie titles Resogun and Contrast free to subscribers on launch day - with more being offered every month. Meanwhile Microsoft announced their Games with Gold promotion at E3 in 2013, and have done an astoundingly poor job promoting it, often burying it in a small window that looks like an advertisement on the 360 dashboard. Admittedly if you pay close enough attention you got great games like Assassins Creed II, Sleeping Dogs, and Hitman: Absolution - but if you didn't know what you were looking for it was stupidly easy to miss your free games. Back in November, IGN confirmed that Games with Gold would be coming to Xbox One, but nearly a half year later the free titles are nowhere to be found. If Microsoft wants to re-endear itself to the gamers who bought an Xbox One despite the ton of bad press leading up to its launch - and bring new customers into the fold - offering (and promoting) free games new and classic is definitely the way to go. Of course there isnt a lot out there right now to give away, but with Xbox Live gaining some steam again with Trials: Evolution, hopefully the amount of content (and free stuff) ramps up for Gold members.
