Xbox One: 10 Big Changes That Would Actually Make It Worth Buying
9. Comcast/Universal Remote Support
Navigating with the Xbox One requires the gamepad simply because some apps dont support voice commands - specifically Youtube. While the typical console controller setup is familiar and welcoming to gamers, putting it in the hands of a non-gamer is like handing someone a lug wrench; they have no idea what its for or what to do with it and want someone to take it away before they break something. A little familiarity goes a long way, and letting consumers control the Xbox One via a Comcast remote - or any universal remote for that matter, suddenly makes the Xbox One a super-powered DVD player - meaning its familiar enough to be used by non-gamers and family members. While Microsoft are releasing their own media remote, it seems they missed their own memo about the Xbox One eliminating the need for multiple ones, as well as clutter and the switching of input methods. Until its just as easy to turn on the Xbox One and start browsing digital content as it is on a cable box, the masses will be tepid about making the device a centrepiece of their living room experience - and that's a shame, since the console has so much potential.
