Xbox One: 5 System Features That Must Be Implemented

4. Messaging

The overall layout of Messages isn't all that bad. The problem lies within its limitations. One biggie is how we are not able to voice message. Whoever made the decision to remove voice messaging is truly a fool. I can only think of a handful of times when I actually bothered to write out a whole string of text, rather than simply making a 20-second recording of what I had to say to another user. The fact that getting to Messages in itself is a burdenm has made many reluctant to even use the feature. On the 360, you simply opened the Home-button guide, press 'Messages' and recorded your message, and chose your recipient. On the Xbox One, you have to put the game/app you are using into the background, find the Messages tile, add your recipient, TYPE the message, and wait to get confirmation it has been sent. It went from being killed on Call of Duty 4 by some angry pre-pubescent child and raging by sending them an angry message within 20 seconds, to conceding via the Kick-Off glitch on FIFA - meaning you background the game whilst remembering the Gamertag in question (as there's no Recent Players feature - yet another calamity), type out your response, wait for the confirmation it has been sent, and hope it was all done within the 30 seconds provided. Way to go 'Next-Gen,' Xbox.
