Xbox One X: 9 Ways Microsoft Can Avoid A Total Failure

2. Make Sure Upgraded Games Don't Tank Performance

One of the biggest things dragging down the PS4 Pro right now is that a lot of Pro-enhanced upgrades actually make new games run worse than they would on a regular machine.

Titles like Prey ran visibly worse on PS4 Pro at launch, suffering performance issues like tanked frame rates and screen tearing just because the devs tried to get the game up to a higher resolution. It's not the fault of the console, it's just that poor oversight and quality control led to patches that just weren't up to snuff.

Going forward, if Microsoft don't keep a tighter handle on its third-party support, it could suffer the same fate. Owners upgrading to the new console don't want to feel like they've drawn the short straw after dropping so much money on a huge investment, and a reliable patching system could do wonders to make people feel confident about embracing the Xbox One X with open arms.
