Whether we like it or not, cloud technology and streaming is the future of gaming. While the technology might not be there yet, the fact that Google is pushing ahead with the Stadia, and the fact that's forced Microsoft and Sony to work together so they don't fall behind in the streaming race, means that it's here to stay.

Consequently, Microsoft's project xCloud, an initiative that allows you to stream video games to pretty much any device you own, is going to be a big part of the company's next generation plans. The feature will essentially turn your console into your own private xCloud server, allowing you to beam your Xbox games to a bunch of different devices, meaning you're no longer tied to the TV or monitor the machine is hooked up to.

Again, this sounds like it would fall apart in practice, but those who've experienced the tech for themselves on the E3 floor (admittedly, in ideal conditions that won't be applicable to every consumer), all say that the service works surprisingly well.

As mentioned, this won't completely supplant regular console gaming, but expect remote play - on any device, anywhere - to be a major component of the next Xbox.
