11. You Can Use Waypoints To Avoid Drawing Unwanted Attention

Drawing unwanted attention too early in XCOM 2 can make or break a given situation, forcing you to change your tactics on the spot, or foiling an attempted ambush. It's surprising just how many players don't make use of the waypoint feature, predominantly because they have no idea it exists. Essentially, using the shift key, you can pinpoint your soldier's movements, preventing them from crashing through windows or taking obviously disadvantageous routes. For example, if you need a soldier to make his way to a nearby rooftop, but there are enemies in the immediate area, using shift, he can be guided through a less direct route to his destination. Simple, but effective. Again, this will be incredibly obvious to some, but it's surprising just how many people miss this little trick.
