Zelda: Breath Of The Wild - 20 Things You Didn't Know You Could Do

5. How To Use Broken Weapons For Good

Pretty much the only really divisive part of Breath of the Wild, having weapons break constantly after only 10 or so hits can be a little frustrating.

I've taken it to just encourage weapon variety, but there is a benefit to a melee weapon entering its almost-broken state: Critical damage.

To pull off a critical hit outside of a Stealthstrike or headshot with an arrowhead, make the most of a broken weapon by throwing it with R when it's flashing red.

Doing so in this state does double damage, allows you to do some pretty cool visual flourishes as you'll probably finish an enemy with the game's 'shatter' effect, or if not, you now have some good distance between you and your foe, to decide what to equip next.
