Zelda: Breath Of The Wild - 5 Problems Nobody Admits Need Fixing

4. Discrepancies Between Switch And Wii U

Although originally slated as a the Wii U Zelda that we'd all been waiting for, Breath of the Wild ended up releasing simultaneously on the Wii U and the Switch. Unfortunately, the two versions have some noticeable differences.

This isn't just in reference to the fact that the Switch port has a better resolution than the Wii U version. With a stronger console, that's bound to happen. The biggest problem comes from some of the weirder differences between the Switch version and the Wii U version, as well as the under performance of the Switch port.

Both releases suffer from frame rate drops quite heavily, but the Switch appears to have them in places that the Wii U doesn't and vice versa. There is no known reason as to why this happens but it does make the difference between the two seem negligible at best, as neither can really handle the huge game world.

Another weird affect is that the Wii U version actually has faster loading times for things like Shrines and reloading. If someone buys a Switch specifically for Zelda, they're going to be disappointed that they're not actually getting the best version possible. Frame rate issues and longer load times appearing in the Switch release, as well as the game performing better when in handheld mode, make it feel like Nintendo didn't put their all into porting the game over.
