Zelda: Breath Of The Wild - 5 Problems Nobody Admits Need Fixing

1. Frame Rate Drops

The biggest issue in Breath of the Wild is that it often can't handle the world that it has created.

Although the huge world of Breath of the Wild is definitely an achievement in itself, the old hardware of the Wii U and even the brand new Switch can't actually handle it most of the time. The monumental size causes the game to slow down considerably when exploring the world.

The different regions that Link can explore such as the Gerudo Town, Goron City, and the Zora Domain all cause massive frame rate drops that really take away from the experience of finding them. Long grass, explosions, guardians, and water also all cause the frame rate to collapse in on itself. It takes away from exploring Hyrule, and it's a problem that plagues both releases of the game.

Whether it be because the game is poorly optimised or because the hardware simply can't handle the game, Breath of the Wild feels like it lacks the Nintendo polish that is present in almost every other game that they have released. Nintendo never usually release games with poor optimisation, but it seems like they might have jumped the gun on this one.

Jumping through portals, swinging through cities, destroying beings made of darkness and occasionally shooting a gun or two. I also write about games.
