10 Recent And Upcoming Found Footage Horror Movies You MUST Watch
8. A Sea Of Trees
With the likes of The Blair Witch Project, The Ritual, and The Evil Dead, the woods have consistently proven to be one of the most effective horror settings. Another film that looks to continue this trend is A Sea Of Trees, which is written and directed by English filmmaker Scott Lyus.
Following his 2022 feature debut, underrated creature feature Walking Against the Rain, Lyus' latest project is set to follow a documentary crew as they head into Epping Forest in search of a vlogger who mysteriously disappeared two decades earlier. Although details remain sparse, and no trailer has been released at the time of writing, what has been revealed about this project so far sounds incredibly enticing.
Discussing his vision for the film, Lyus spoke about wanting to make something that felt "disturbingly real." Drawing upon society's current fascination with true crime, A Sea Of Trees will explore ideas of "grief, spectacle, and belief" as it blends elements of supernatural mystery with the area's real-life folklore and history to "blur the boundary between fact and myth."
This is one film that genre fans will need to keep a close eye on in the coming weeks.
