10 Upcoming Horror Movies That Made PERFECT Casting Choices

7. Mark Hamill - The Long Walk

Stephen King's dystopian horror novel The Long Walk was long deemed "unfilmable" given that it revolves almost entirely around a group of young men competitively walking, but it also presented another major challenge - finding an actor to live up to King's conception of the villainous Major.

The Major is the leader of the secret police force that runs the annual walking-to-the-death contest, and who appears throughout as a sort of phantom-like figure constantly pursuing the walkers in a vehicle, ready to order their deaths if they stop walking.

Ultimately, Mark Hamill was cast in the role, and though Hamill is of course best known for playing one of cinema's all-time great heroes in Luke Skywalker, he can also play menacing with the best of 'em. Beyond voicing The Joker to perfection across various media, Hamill was an easy standout in Mike Flanagan's recent horror series The Fall of the House of Usher as terrifyingly ruthless lawyer Arthur Gordon Pym.

So, there's no doubt that he'll bring the screen presence and commanding voice needed to match how vividly King realised his character as an overpowering force of nature in the book.
