20 Best Found Footage Horror Movies Ever

15. Deadstream

Paranormal Activity
Shudder

Deadstream proved in 2022 that there are still ripe avenues for original takes on found footage, centered as it is around a disgraced content creator who attempts to win his audience back by spending the night in an infamous haunted house.

For one, the livestream style and the protagonist's motivations provide an easy explanation for why he would keep filming, and though protagonist Shawn - played by co-director Joseph Winter - might seem grating at first, he ultimately becomes an embattled figure you'll probably be compelled to root for.

Joseph and his co-director-slash-spouse Vanessa Winter milk the central scenario for every loony drop, with some clearly Evil Dead-inspired gooey mayhem that manages to be both riotously fun and downright terrifying. The livestream comments featured throughout are also consistently hilarious and ensure the tone remains well-balanced all the way to the end.

Deadstream became enough of a hit with horror fans that the Winters were recently hired to direct a new entry in the Amityville franchise.
