6. Return of the Living Dead

A sixth installment in the Return of the Living Dead franchise is on the way, and will serve as a direct sequel to the brilliant original 1985 horror-comedy, The Return of the Living Dead.

This new film, confusingly and similarly entitled "Return of the Living Dead," takes place 18 months after the events of the OG film as the toxic gas known as Trioxin leaks into a small Pennsylvania town during Christmas 1985.

Due to a rights dispute, none of the series' existing human characters will be featured, though the iconic Tarman zombie mercifully will appear, which is really what matters most.

All the same, considering that writer-director Steve Wolsh has only a few critically panned low-budget horror films to his name, it's impossible to have much faith in this one, even though many would love to see more Christmas-themed zombie features.

Considering that not a single sequel to date has even remotely lived up to the original, why expect any different here?
