20 Upcoming Horror Movies NOBODY Asked For

17. Lee Cronin's The Mummy

Lee Cronin's The Mummy
Warner Bros.

Let's be real here: the only new Mummy movie most people want to see is The Mummy 4, with Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz recently confirmed to be returning for the belated action-horror sequel.

The previous Tom Cruise-starring blockbuster version failed, and with The Mummy 4 now in active development, there's very little interest in anybody else trying to do something with the IP, no matter how different it might be.

Now, in fairness, this lower-budget, R-rated take from Evil Dead Rise filmmaker Lee Cronin pretty much looks like a Mummy movie in name only, given that the style and tone are far more in line with an Evil Dead film. At which point, one might be tempted to ask, why didn't you just make another Evil Dead film instead?

While under Cronin's direction this Mummy movie has a solid chance of turning out well, it wouldn't surprise anyone if it fails to make much traction at the box office, as everyone waits with bated breath for the Fraser/Weisz sequel.
