10 Amazing Albums That Will Make You Love Pop Punk Music

5. A Fever You Can't Sweat Out - Panic at the Disco

As the emo stripe of pop punk started to take over the world, people were starting to turn to the more theatrical side of rock and roll. In between people putting safety pins through their noses, you also had the other side of the genre where bands were piling on the eyeliner and going for a retro pastiche. And on A Fever You Can't Sweat Out, we were practically given tickets to the pop punk cabaret.

At least...that's what it feels like on first listen. Long before Brendon Urie started to steer Panic towards full on pop music, this record is guitarist Ryan Ross' baby, making something that was a lot more bombastic than the likes of Good Charlotte. Even though most people remember this for songs like I Write Sins Not Tragedies, you also have sections that go completely off the rails like the dance break on Time To Dance or the full on big band arrangement of But It's Better If You Do.

From the looks of what's happened in the years since, most of the poppier side of the spectrum has stolen more than a few tricks from Panic's playbook, as bands like Metro Station looked to sprinkle some pure pop into the mix every now and again. Panic may have long since left this kind of style behind, but you never really forget your first love, now do you?
