10 Amazing Hard Rock Music Videos
9. Everlong - Foo Fighters
From the getgo, Dave Grohl was never one to take himself too seriously. Even after the morbid ending of Nirvana, Dave's first venture on his own with Foo Fighters involved videos with terrible green screens and even comparisons to candy commercials. Then again, when Grohl wanted to delve into more serious territory, "Everlong" gave the band one of their most iconic onscreen moments.
Looking to go beyond the typical rock video, Grohl hooked up with the director of Bjork's videos, who turned in some of the most trippy images to ever be associated with the band. Centered around a dream sequence, the video is completely over-the-top, with Grohl defending his girlfriend by making his hand grow to gargantuan proportions while drummer Taylor Hawkins plays a disgruntled wife trying to save herself from an intruder.
For as much weirdness is in this video, the images end up matching perfectly as each section of the song builds with intensity. You might question why something featuring a giant telephone, nun-chucks made out of logs, and an in-bedroom concert have in common, but when the song actually comes together, the idea seems like the coolest thing in the world. Some more classic videos were to follow from the Foos, but this was the first to really get fans to do a double take.
