10 Best Number One Rock Albums Of The 2000s
5. The Rising - Bruce Springsteen
No matter the decade, ol' Brucey can always be relied upon to churn out a phenomenal album.
The Boss actually propelled four studio albums to number one in the noughties, with only a 2006 album of covers not managing to summit the mountain. Of all his fabulous work in this time period, the record that stands out above the rest is 2002's The Rising.
Springsteen's first studio album in seven years, and his first with the E Street Band in nearly 20, The Rising was the singer offering his thoughts on the September 11th terrorist attacks and the state in which America was left following that tragic day.
For a man so in tune with his country's ups and downs, this made for a fertile subject matter for Springers, who turned in several of his best songs in quite some time. As all of his best stuff does, this captured a snapshot of the USA in a particularly moment in time, preserving it for future generations to observe.
The Rising reached number one in August 2002, just a few weeks away from the first anniversary of 9/11.
